{"id":"CVE-2026-96267","published":"2026-10-03T07:16:49.200","lastModified":"2026-10-06T15:04:52.637","description":"The WP Visitor Statistics (Real Time Traffic) plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to generic SQL Injection via the 'fullRef' parameter in all versions up to, and including, 8.7 due to insufficient escaping on the user supplied parameter and lack of sufficient preparation on the existing SQL query. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to append additional SQL queries into already existing queries that can be used to extract sensitive information from the database. This is a second-order SQL injection: an unauthenticated attacker submits a crafted referrer URL to the wmcTrack tracking endpoint, which persists the raw unescaped value into the wp_logVisit table, and the injection is triggered when an administrator next views the Traffic Sources dashboard.","cvssScore":7.5,"cvssSeverity":"HIGH","cvssVector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N","cwes":["CWE-89"],"vendors":[],"products":[],"references":[{"url":"https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/wp-stats-manager/tags/8.6/includes/wsm_db.php#L1082","tags":[]},{"url":"https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/wp-stats-manager/tags/8.6/includes/wsm_functions.php#L3091","tags":[]},{"url":"https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/wp-stats-manager/tags/8.6/includes/wsm_requests.php#L140","tags":[]},{"url":"https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/wp-stats-manager/tags/8.6/includes/wsm_statistics.php#L3252","tags":[]},{"url":"https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/wp-stats-manager/tags/8.6/wp-stats-manager.php#L103","tags":[]},{"url":"https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/changeset?reponame=&old=3722831%40wp-stats-manager&new=3722831%40wp-stats-manager","tags":[]},{"url":"https://www.wordfence.com/threat-intel/vulnerabilities/id/8192cbb0-ea1f-4897-808c-67f5002d56fb?source=cve","tags":[]}],"exploitRefs":[],"hasPoc":false,"ai":{"summary":"The WP Visitor Statistics plugin contains a second-order SQL injection vulnerability in the 'fullRef' parameter that allows unauthenticated attackers to inject malicious SQL queries through persistent referrer data, potentially enabling data extraction from the WordPress database.","exploitability":"Exploitation requires an administrator to view the Traffic Sources dashboard after an attacker submits a crafted referrer URL, making it moderately difficult but possible with social engineering or by targeting high-privilege users.","blast_radius":"If exploited, attackers could extract sensitive database information including user credentials, configuration settings, and potentially gain access to other WordPress plugin data through the SQL injection.","remediation":"Upgrade to version 8.8 or later to remediate this SQL injection vulnerability.","detection":"No reliable host or network indicator is derivable from the published description.","tags":["sql-injection","wordpress","second-order","unauthenticated"],"model":"garnet-coder","analyzedAt":"2026-10-12T08:58:41.621Z"}}
