Prior to 3.21.0, FileRise tracks failed logins only by the combination of source IP address and username. A remote unauthenticated attacker can rotate usernames to obtain a fresh per-account attempt budget for each name, enabling password spraying from one source beyond the intended limit. Per-user limits still apply and can also produce distinguishable throttling behavior for targeted accounts. The affected surface is AuthModel::getFailedLoginKey(). This issue is fixed in version 3.21.0.","cvssScore":6.5,"cvssSeverity":"MEDIUM","cvssVector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:N/A:L","cwes":["CWE-307"],"vendors":[],"products":[],"references":[{"url":"https://github.com/error311/FileRise/commit/613fdb28ca25e6dcc9bdfa590757b53935fad8da","tags":[]},{"url":"https://github.com/error311/FileRise/releases/tag/v3.21.0","tags":[]},{"url":"https://github.com/error311/FileRise/security/advisories/GHSA-5m63-83jf-gwx8","tags":[]}],"exploitRefs":[{"url":"https://github.com/error311/FileRise/commit/613fdb28ca25e6dcc9bdfa590757b53935fad8da","tags":[]},{"url":"https://github.com/error311/FileRise/releases/tag/v3.21.0","tags":[]},{"url":"https://github.com/error311/FileRise/security/advisories/GHSA-5m63-83jf-gwx8","tags":[]}],"hasPoc":true,"ai":null}
