{"id":"CVE-2026-56661","published":"2026-10-01T20:17:26.793","lastModified":"2026-10-01T20:23:46.493","description":"GetSimple CMS is a content management system (CMS), and GetSimple CMS CE is the community edition of that CMS. Prior to version 1.5, the update handler fetches a user-supplied URL with file_get_contents() after only format validation (FILTER_VALIDATE_URL) — there is no validation of the request destination. An attacker who can submit the form can make the server issue requests to arbitrary destinations, including internal-only services and cloud metadata endpoints (169.254.169.254). The fetched response body is written to a web-accessible file (/Tmpfile.zip) and is not deleted when the content is not a valid ZIP, turning this into a full-read SSRF: the attacker can retrieve the response of the internal request directly. This issue has been patched in version 1.5.","cvssScore":7.5,"cvssSeverity":"HIGH","cvssVector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:H/UI:R/S:C/C:H/I:L/A:L","cwes":["CWE-918"],"vendors":[],"products":[],"references":[{"url":"https://github.com/GetSimpleCMS-CE/GetSimpleCMS-CE/security/advisories/GHSA-r7v8-mx29-5q8h","tags":[]},{"url":"https://github.com/GetSimpleCMS-CE/GetSimpleCMS-CE/security/advisories/GHSA-r7v8-mx29-5q8h","tags":[]}],"exploitRefs":[{"url":"https://github.com/GetSimpleCMS-CE/GetSimpleCMS-CE/security/advisories/GHSA-r7v8-mx29-5q8h","tags":[]},{"url":"https://github.com/GetSimpleCMS-CE/GetSimpleCMS-CE/security/advisories/GHSA-r7v8-mx29-5q8h","tags":[]}],"hasPoc":true,"ai":{"summary":"The GetSimple CMS update handler is vulnerable to Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) due to insufficient validation of user-supplied URLs. The attack is relatively straightforward once the precondition is met.","blast_radius":"If exploited, this vulnerability could allow attackers to read internal system files, cloud metadata, and potentially other sensitive data from internal services accessible to the web server.","remediation":"Upgrade to version 1.5 or later to patch the SSRF vulnerability in the update handler.","detection":"Monitor for unusual file creation patterns in the /Tmpfile.zip directory, particularly when accessed by the CMS update handler process, and watch for outbound network requests to internal IP ranges like 169.254.169.254 or other internal services.","tags":["ssrf","cms","web","info-disclosure"],"model":"garnet-coder","analyzedAt":"2026-10-12T09:05:45.460Z"}}
