{"id":"CVE-2026-107810","published":"2026-10-09T16:17:25.540","lastModified":"2026-10-13T17:17:17.997","description":"Nginx UI is a web user interface for the Nginx web server. From 2.0.0 until 2.5.0, internal/backup/restore.go extracts inner archives before applying the restore_nginx and restore_nginx_ui flags and permits symlinks targeting the live Nginx configuration path. An authenticated user who can create and restore backups can craft a valid backup that places a symlink in the staging tree and then writes a regular file through that link, even when both restore flags are false. This can persistently inject configuration or cause denial of service when the modified files are later consumed. This issue is fixed in version 2.5.0.","cvssScore":8.1,"cvssSeverity":"HIGH","cvssVector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:H/A:H","cwes":["CWE-59","CWE-61"],"vendors":[],"products":[],"references":[{"url":"https://github.com/0xJacky/nginx-ui/commit/a467ed652591fc0cd1b466a1ec751b493faef9f7","tags":[]},{"url":"https://github.com/0xJacky/nginx-ui/releases/tag/v2.5.0","tags":[]},{"url":"https://github.com/0xJacky/nginx-ui/security/advisories/GHSA-p8v3-89rh-jxc7","tags":[]},{"url":"https://github.com/0xJacky/nginx-ui/security/advisories/GHSA-p8v3-89rh-jxc7","tags":[]}],"exploitRefs":[{"url":"https://github.com/0xJacky/nginx-ui/commit/a467ed652591fc0cd1b466a1ec751b493faef9f7","tags":[]},{"url":"https://github.com/0xJacky/nginx-ui/releases/tag/v2.5.0","tags":[]},{"url":"https://github.com/0xJacky/nginx-ui/security/advisories/GHSA-p8v3-89rh-jxc7","tags":[]},{"url":"https://github.com/0xJacky/nginx-ui/security/advisories/GHSA-p8v3-89rh-jxc7","tags":[]}],"hasPoc":true,"ai":{"summary":"Nginx UI allows authenticated users to create backups that can inject symlinks into the staging directory during restore operations, enabling persistent configuration injection or denial of service even when restore flags are disabled. This affects versions 2.0.0 through 2.5.0.","exploitability":"Exploitation requires an authenticated user who can create and restore backups, making it moderately difficult but not highly complex to achieve with a compromised account.","blast_radius":"The impact could be significant as attackers could inject malicious Nginx configuration or cause persistent denial of service by manipulating files in the live configuration path through crafted backup restores.","remediation":"Upgrade to version 2.5.0 or later to remediate this vulnerability.","detection":"No reliable host or network indicator is derivable from the published description.","tags":["config-injection","backup-restore","privilege-escalation"],"model":"garnet-coder","analyzedAt":"2026-10-17T08:58:21.266Z"}}
