Under certain shell operations, a command may be evaluated without the privilege check that is normally applied, allowing an authenticated user with limited privileges to execute commands they are not authorized to run. Successful exploitation can result in privilege escalation, with impact to the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the affected device. The issue affects all versions of VxWorks 7 prior to 26.09.  It has been fixed in 26.09.","cvssScore":8.8,"cvssSeverity":"HIGH","cvssVector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","cwes":["CWE-269"],"vendors":[],"products":[],"references":[{"url":"https://support2.windriver.com/index.php?page=cve&on=view&id=CVE-2026-104018","tags":[]}],"exploitRefs":[],"hasPoc":false,"ai":{"summary":"An improper privilege management vulnerability allows authenticated users with limited privileges to execute unauthorized commands, leading to potential privilege escalation.","exploitability":"Exploitation is moderately difficult as it requires specific shell operations and authenticated access, but once triggered, can lead to significant impact.","blast_radius":"If exploited, this vulnerability can result in a complete compromise of the affected device, impacting confidentiality, integrity, and availability.","remediation":"Upgrade to VxWorks 26.09 or later.","detection":"No reliable host or network indicator is derivable from the published description.","tags":["rce","priv-escalation","shell","vulnerability"],"model":"qwen2.5:7b-instruct","analyzedAt":"2026-10-03T08:53:14.970Z"}}
